a teacher's legacy

The true measure of teaching is what students carry forward.

For more than two decades, Adria Firestone has taught, mentored, and challenged emerging artists to develop not only stronger voices but stronger artistic identities. Her work has always gone beyond technique, helping students find the courage, discipline, self-knowledge, and confidence to step fully into who they are as performers and, most importantly, as people. Many of these reflections were offered spontaneously by former students and clients after Adria shared on social media that her 23-year chapter at NJCU had closed.

STUDENT VOICES

“You got me when no one really did, and you helped me build the foundations. I still talk about you today now that I’m an international performer. You built something in each person you’ve impacted, and when we’ve gone on and given a performance or shared our knowledge, that’s more being built—so in a way, you’re everywhere, and that’s forever.”

Tara Kulbatski MU Singer | Actor

“Not only has my voice transformed, but my soul as well. Adria’s unwavering love, wisdom, and attention to detail helped me break down my walls and blossom into the potential I was too afraid to show. Without her teaching, I never would have had the courage to grace the American Idol stage—or the stamina and vocal health to perform six hours a night.”

Sydney Millevoi,  Singer | Composer
Finalist on NBC's The Voice
1st Prize, Amateur Night at the Apollo

“Adria Firestone is a rare, transformative force in a world often lacking authenticity. I have had the privilege of knowing Adria for over 23 years, beginning when she was my voice teacher at New Jersey City University.

Adria is the epitome of professionalism. She continues to enrich the lives of my chorus and musical theatre students by leading workshops that prepare them for auditions, college acceptance, and high-level competitions. She teaches through example, demonstrating what it truly means to lead with integrity, brilliance, and purpose.

Adria Firestone is someone I deeply admire and continuously aspire to be like. Having her in my corner is one of the greatest blessings of my life, and I am thrilled to share her brilliance, energy, and mastery with the next generation of performers.”

Milagros "Milly" Gonzalez, Music Educator
NJ's Governor's Teacher of the Year 2022
ESL & Bilingual Certification
Supervision and Administration Certification

"The lessons you have taught follow those who have had the honor of knowing and working with you. I use some of them with my own daughter. You are a FIERCE FORCE of love.”

Stephanie Arguelles Ramos,  Educator | Performer

“You changed my life. I am better and more confident today because of you. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to your students.”

Mari Solis,  Singer |  Songwriter

I wasn’t feeling 100% but had a gig after our session. I felt a difference in my entire approach. I was conscious of my breathing, my core, and I checked that my knees weren't locking.  I got some of the best sound I’ve ever gotten from myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Cole Williams, Award-winning Singer & Songwriter, Broadcaster
Nonprofit Partnerships Director

“I teach tiny humans now, and I always tell my kindergarteners to say, ‘I AM Anne Marie’ instead of ‘My name is Anne Marie’ when introducing themselves onstage. I learned that in your class!”

Anne Marie Neisler
Montessori Teacher

“Theater has always been special to me, and your passion made the classroom come alive. Thank you for bringing that energy and care.”

Santo Sanabria, Class of '08

I am honored to have been in that first batch of students. I learned so much from you and appreciate your time and willingness to share your knowledge and love of music."

Diane Ganley, NJCU

“What you have done and been for me and so many students far exceeds a building. Whoever you come across, or whatever establishment brings you on, will be blessed to have you.”

Byron N. Nails. NJCU

WHAT ENDURES

A teacher’s work does not end when the class ends. It continues in every stage entered with greater courage, every student taught with greater compassion, and every artist who discovers that their voice belongs to them.
